Overview Introductory week-long rowing camp for ages 10-14 years No Experience required: Campers learn everything about rowing, from boat handling to stroke technique. By Friday they're zipping around the reservoir! Inclusive: We try to be an inclusive camp for all abilities. The week long camps are broken down into an orientation session, on-water rowing sessions, off-water sessions and camp games activities. Teamwork is crucial in rowing. We emphasize this by incorporating fun games that require working together effectively. The CRC camp experience builds self-confidence, develops skills, and above all, new friendships. Orientation Session On the first day the coaches will cover the basics of the sport. Safety rules, boat handling techniques, boat components and common rowing terminology will be covered. Rowing Sessions Each day, the youth will have around three hours of on-water rowing time (weather and water conditions permitting). Off-Water Sessions Rowing is also about dry land training. Our coaches will teach them about the different aspects of dry land training. From team camp games to relay races on the rowing machines, dry land training centres on developing conditioning while having fun! The Summer Splash Regatta The week ends with the Summer Splash Regatta. The rowers will have their chance to show off their rowing skills as they race down our 1500m course for a chance to win the coveted Slurpee Cup. Parents are welcome to attend, watch and cheer on the crews! | Week-long Summer Camps

Cost and Payment $235.00 registration plus a 3% processing fee and GST covers everything except lunches. The camp fee includes the Rowing Canada Aviron insurance fee. Payment is due at the time of registration. We accept Visa or Mastercard. You can also send us an e-transfer to office@calgaryrowing.com. | Registration Make sure to register early as classes fill up quickly. Weather Disclaimer Note: Due to facility limitations, we reserve the right to cancel a camp day with 24h notice should the weather forecast show excessive rain or bad weather. We have limited access to indoor facilities and want to ensure that your children are safe at all times. If we have to cancel the camp, we will issue you a full refund. Cancellation Policy Changes or cancellations will be accepted up to five business days before the start of class and are subject to a $50 administration fee. No refunds or changes will be permitted in the five business days before the start of class. All weather related cancellations will result in a full refund. |
